Kathleen "Kathy" Arensdorf Obituary

Kathleen M. “Kathy” Arensdorf, 70, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on April 4th, 2024, at Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Msgr. Thomas Toale officiating. Private burial will be at Assumption Cemetery Sylvia Switch.

Kathy was born on November 5, 1953, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Darlene (Dieter) Potter. She married Ronald Arensdorf on September 23, 1972 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in La Motte, IA.

Kathy enjoyed doing crafts, her home is filled with home-made decorations. She loved to decorate for the Holidays, especially Christmas, it was like the North Pole every year. Ron would have to put the decorations on a trailer to put back away because there were so many.

Ron and Kathy enjoyed camping, whether it be on their land or traveling all over the country.  Camping was very important to them, and they made many wonderful memories with their family and friends while on their camping trips.

Ron also built Kathy a house on their land and put three ponds in. Kathy said she didn’t want to walk around the ponds to come see him when he was fishing so she told him she needed a bridge, so he built her a bridge, by himself. Ron literally did whatever Kathy wanted.

Kathy was a loving homemaker; family was her whole life. She loved her grandkids, nieces and nephews. Spending time with her family was of great importance to her.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Arensdorf; daughters, Brenda Burkart and Stacy Schares. Her grandkids: Kayla Burkhart, Chase Burkart, Gracy Schares and Lilly Schares. Two sister Peggy Schuster and Tracy Laughlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Scott Arensdorf; her sister Mary Ann Potter; her brother Jim Potter; a nephew Jared Potter and two nieces Melissa Schuster and Kristen Vogt.

In lieu of flowers a Kathy Arensdorf memorial fund will be established.

The family wishes to thank Key West Fire & EMS along with the Emergency Room at Finley Hospital for all their care and compassion.
