Mae C. Dement, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa passed peacefully away on April 7th, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with a wake service to be held at 3:45 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12th, 2024, at the Church of the Nativity with Fr. Andy Upah officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date at Linwood Cemetery.
Mae was born on October 9, 1936, in Baguio City, Philippines. She is the daughter of Mary & Antonio Borja. She married Deane Charles Dement and he precedes her in death.
She received her B.A. from the University of Baguio. Mae spent her career as a LPN at Saint Dominic’s Villa.
Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s plays, performances, art exhibits, and sporting events. She loved cooking and gardening, and crocheting intricate items for family and friends. Many people far and wide were recipients of Mae’s letters; she rarely missed a birthday or holiday.
Mae is survived by her:
Sister, Mila Sirucka.
Children: Robert “Lucky” Dement (wife, Thea), Deanna Dement Myers, Gigi Dement, and Samantha Dement Graham (husband, Brian.)
Grandchildren: Lola Dement Myers, Sebrina Dement Semer, Ivy (Nell) Dement Myers, Harrison Dement Graham, Noli Dement Semer, Griffin Dement Graham, and Cooper Dement Graham.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Deane (Dino), and brothers Luis and Raoul.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Brian Sullivan, Dr. Todd Sleep, Dr. Mark Niemer, and Hospice of Dubuque West for all the wonderful care and compassion they showed Mae.
