Marjorie Tuthill Obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Marjorie Jane Tuthill of Dubuque, Iowa on Sunday, March 17, 2024. She was with her husband and passed away peacefully. She will be cremated and buried in Lattnerville Catholic Cemetery in Lattnerville, Iowa. There are no events planned as she did not wish to have services. Her family will celebrate her life in private.

Marge was a strong and kind woman and our family was blessed to have her as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born on June 12, 1940 to Magdalene and Leo J. Goetzinger and grew up in Graf, Iowa. She had a green thumb, loved to draw and paint, and in her younger days she enjoyed hiking and hunting in the woods surrounding the family home in Graf.

In 1958 she married Carl Tuthill and together they went on to have 6 children. Marge was a wonderful and loving woman who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.

Marge was predeceased by her twin sons Scott Tuthill and Darran Tuthill; her parents, Leo J. & Magdalene Goetzinger; her three sisters, Linda (Art) Berger, Gerry (Ed) Fleming and Elizabeth Ann (Merlin) Conrad; her five brothers, Leo John, Gene (Betty), James, Darrel (Shirley) & Robert Gene Goetzinger.

Marge is survived by her husband, Carl Tuthill of Dubuque, Iowa; four children, Becky (Paul) Shappell of Dubuque, Iowa, Margie (Lance) Thompson of West Chicago, Illinois, Tim (Carol) Tuthill of Durango, Iowa and Rod (Sharon) Tuthill of Dubuque, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Emily Shappell, Catie (Doug) Frank, Alyse (Michael) Richards, Derek Thompson, Gabrielle Thompson, Courtney Tuthill, Laura (Jake) Trierweiler, Dakota Tuthill, Jessica Tuthill, Jason (Megan) Tuthill, Robert (Kaitlynn) Tuthill and Katelyn Tuthill; eight great grandchildren with a ninth on the way; one sister, Sharon (Don) Daniels of Bagley, Wisconsin and two sisters-in-law Rita Goetzinger and Janice Goetzinger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ries and Dr. Chapman of Medical Associates Dubuque; the doctors, nurses, and staff of the 3rd Floor Medical Unit at MercyOne Dubuque; the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque and the nurses and staff of Stonehill Communities of Dubuque, Iowa.
