Rosie was born the 5th child of Fredoline Teresa (Remke) and Walter Bertrand Lansing on November 24, 1935 in Ossian IA. She graduated from Desales High School in 1953 and went on to graduate with her nursing degree from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1956. Following graduation she worked as a surgical nurse at Mercy and then later at St. Josephs Hospital in Denver, CO. Friends she met during her nursing days would soon become her travel companions as they all decided to spend a year in Europe. They travelled extensively backpacking through England, Scotland, German, Italy, Switzerland, and France. While in Europe Rosie put her nursing degree to work and spent time working at several different hospitals in Dublin, Ireland.
After returning home to Dubuque, Rosie met Melvin Henneberry at a party of mutual friends. Rosie and Melvin were married on October 8, 1966 at St Patrick’s Church in Dubuque IA. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Cathy (Rick) Yanke of Reedsburg WI, Steve (Machelle) Henneberry of Solon IA, and Jenny (Geoff) Dumolien of Robins IA.
Rosie was an amazing cook and baker and loved working in her garden. No one ever left her house hungry. Before her stroke in 2017 Rosie was always on the road attending her grandson’s sporting events, grandparent masses, concerts, etc. She was also involved in the Cascade Area Right to Life and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Rosie’s pride and joy were her eight grandsons: Bryant and Logan Yanke, Cody (Jenna), Hayden and Josh Henneberry and Dominick, Aaron, and Jake Dumolien.
She is further survived by her sisters: Patty McCabe of Cresco IA, Inez Nutt of Madison WI, Gladys Didesch of Dubuque IA and Geri Maloy of Dubuque IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, as well as sisters Betty Welter, Esther Cobry, Vi Pankow and brother Lawrence Lansing.
