Thomas J. Zenner

Thomas “Tom” J. Zenner, 64, of Peosta, Iowa, passed away on April 15, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, surrounded by those he loved.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 11:45 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Trinity Church with Fr. Jeff Frieden officiating. The burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Tom was born on February 10, 1960, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of DeWayne “Ace” and Hilda (Burgmaier) Zenner. He was a graduate of Wahlert High School then proceeded to NIAAC where he earned his associate degree. Upon graduation, he moved back home where he began his career in commercial roofing with Jim Giese Roofing.

He married the love of his life Lisa Riley. Together, Tom and Lisa raised two sons: Garret and Levi. After 40 years in the trade, Tom planned his retirement to be filled with many adventures with his family and friends.

Tom filled his days with gardening, hunting, and raising his beagles. He took great pride carrying on his family legacy beagling at Willow Beagle Club, with his sons, formerly established by his father Ace. Tom was an avid sportsman who shared his passion for fishing with his children and grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Lisa; dedicated sons Garret (Chelsey) Zenner and Levi (Rachael) Zenner; three adoring grandchildren Milo, McKenzie and Ryker. His siblings Linda (Bill) Luensmann, Peggy (Fred) Schubrych and Keith Zenner; father-in-law John Riley Jr., in-laws Julie (Dave) Hopkins, Lori (Don) Graham and Peggy Riley, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents DeWayne and Hilda Zenner, and mother-in-law Cathy Riley.
