Anne Marie Lampe

Anne Marie Lampe, 96 of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Luther Manor Communities Dubuque.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4th at St. Raphael's Cathedral, a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Msgr. Toale officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of the arrangements.

Anne Marie was born on July 12, 1921, in Bernard, Iowa, the daughter of Cornelius and Emma (Bergfeld) Koch. On October 3, 1945 she married Roman Lampe Sr. at Fillmore Catholic Church and celebrated 69 years together.

Anne worked at Kalmes Restaurant and Finley Hospital Food Service, and catered with Kalmes Restaurant until she was 86. She journeyed through life making some of the best wedding cakes, pies, and breads with great love for her family. Anne made First Communion cakes for each of her 11 grandchildren and at 83 she decorated her last wedding cake.

Anne Marie was a member of St. Raphael’s Cathedral in Dubuque. She will be remembered for her love of card games, bingo, and occasionally going to the casino with her sons. She especially loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in attendance.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Anne Marie is survived by four sons: Roman Jr. (Mary Jane) of Dubuque, Lynn (Janet) of Dubuque, Steven (Dena) of Dubuque, Philip (Linda) of Dubuque and two daughters: Marianne (Dan) Weber, of St. Donatus and Janice of Dubuque, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two siblings Peggy Hannig of Peosta and Elaine Forest of Clearwater, Florida. She is also survived by four brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman, on April 14, 2015, her parents, and three siblings, Ardella, Kaye, and Helen.

The family would like to thank the staff and her friends at Mt. Pleasant Home, Luther Manor Communities, and Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care and kindness shown to our mom.

The family requests no flowers.
