Barry R. Riggs

Barry R. Riggs, 71, of Dubuque passed away Wednesday May 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A procession from the funeral home led by the Patriot Guard Riders will depart at 11:00 a.m. to Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel for military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Barry was born January 31, 1947 in Kentucky, the son of Reginald and Vivian (Klopfenstien) Riggs. At the age of 6 his family moved to Tucson, Arizona. He graduated in 1965 from Sunnyside High School in Tucson. That same year, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served until 1971, which included 2 tours in Vietnam.

Barry was employed by Peck Steel in Tucson, AZ and Gardner Machinery Corp. of Charlotte, N.C.

Barry is survived by his wife Edna (Clark) Riggs of Dubuque; his two children Michael (Christine) Riggs of Dubuque and Shawn (Chad) Gurley of Tucson; 2 step children Keith (Michelle) Dague of Dubuque and Anne (Kurt) Feldmann of Tucson; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers Gary and Kerry Riggs of Tucson.

He is preceded in death by his parents Reginald and Vivian (Klopfenstien) Riggs and his brother Terry Riggs.
