Brian L. Matthewson

Brian Lowell Matthewson, 68 of Las Vegas and formerly of Dubuque, passed away on December 11, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Henderson, Nevada.

Graveside committal service will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday August 10, 2018 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West with full Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post #6. Following the burial a gathering of family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at American Legion Hall, 1306 Delhi in Dubuque. 

He was born on March 22, 1949 in Dubuque the son of Lowell "Jeff" and Anita Matthewson. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked at various jobs including truck driver, electrician, casino security, armored transportation, and construction. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his three sons Brian "B.J.", Matt and Erik (Ayesha) and 5 grandchildren Ciara, Madeline, Brody, Emma and Ellie. One sister, Mary (Bill) Genzler and a brother Tim (Pat) Matthewson. 

He was preceded death by his parents and his brother Daniel.
