Carl N. Hentges

Carl N. Hentges, 81 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 30th, 2017 in Dubuque.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 6th, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery, Epworth, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 6:30 p.m.

Carl was born on March 11, 1936 the son of Lester and LaVerne (Kurt) Hentges. He married Sally Schmitt on April 19th, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Church in Epworth. Carl and Sally were long time parishioners of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

He worked for Dubuque John Deere until his retirement and was a member of the John Deere Retirees and the UAW.

He is survived by his wife Sally; their children, Julie (Gordon) Winkler, Tony (Margie) Hentges, Joe (Tami) Hentges and Tom (Jill) Hentges. Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Three brothers, Jerry Hentges, Fred (Marion) Hentges, and Pat (Mary Beth) Hentges.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lois Walling.

The family would like to thank Finley Home Healthcare, Hospice of Dubuque, and Dubuque Specialty Care for all their wonderful care they gave to Carl.
