Daniel Lee Mehlhorn   October 8, 1956—June 27, 2018

Daniel Lee Mehlhorn Dan was born October 8, 1956 in Green Bay, WI to David and Sharon (Hess) Mehlhorn.  Dan was currently a resident of Crestridge Care Center, formerly of Manchester and Dubuque Iowa. Dan passed away at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa Iowa, June 27, 2018.

In 1975, Dan graduated with high honors from Green Bay East High School. having been listed in the publication “Who’s Who of American Students” two consecutive years.  He attended the University of Green Bay, Ogden Utah and La Crosse WI, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1979.

Dan started his career at Sperry Univac/Unisys in Clear Lake Iowa. His career took him to Stanford CT, Switzerland, Omaha NE and finally Anaheim, CA.  He returned to Dubuque, IA in 1995 as a Corporate Systems Analyst for Crescent Electric where he retired after 30 years of service.

Dan married Carol Roberts in 1981 in Mason City, IA., and they were later divorced.  He married Sheryl Kampman in 2014 and moved to Manchester, IA.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, two daughters, Amy Marie Mehlhorn and Brenda Joy Mehlhorn of Dubuque, and a son, Timothy Ryan Mehlhorn of Des Moines, IA; two step-daughters Tara (Josh) Staton  of Manchester, and Ashley (Lonnie) Fenner of Jesup, IA.  He is further survived by his mother, Sharon Mehlhorn of Gillett WI and 3 brothers; Steven (Wanda) Mehlhorn of Gillette, WI, Alan (Cynthia) Mehlhorn of Lakeville MN, David Mehlhorn of Gillett, WI. 2 nieces and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, David August Mehlhorn and his grandparents.

Dan’s hobbies included playing clarinet, coaching youth baseball, and car racing in his earlier years.

A private service will be held. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory of Dubuque assisted the family.
