Debra Hillard Obituary

Debra Ann Hillard, 65, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on September 11th, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics surrounded by her family.

 Family and friends may gather from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 14th, 2018 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1410 Main Street Street, where a service will be held at 5:00 p.m.

 Debra was born on February 14, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Milton and Doris (Williams) Roth. She married Dennis “Wally” Hillard on June 30th, 1979 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dubuque.

 Over the years she worked as a Registered Nurse at Finley Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, and Heritage Manor. She also worked as a Case Manager at Cottingham & Butler and that was the job that she loved the most.

 She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. John’s Vestry and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Dubuque Rotary Club and Monday Night Ladies Poker.

 Debra enjoyed cooking for family and friends, playing the “One-Armed Bandits” at the Diamond Jo and looking for bargains at Goodwill; but she especially loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.

 She is survived by her husband Dennis “Wally” Hillard; sons Joe Brenke and Josh (Megan) Hillard; daughter Kim (Rob Hirsbrunner) Harvey; and ten grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Dennis Roth.

 In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.

 The family wishes to thank the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for all their kind efforts and care. To Dick and Jan Markus for all their help and friendship over the years. A big thank you to Dennis’s brothers, sister, nieces and nephews for all the help, care and support during this difficult time, along with other family and friends who have reached out to us.
