Douglas H. Wilcox, age 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Ennoble Manor in Dubuque, IA.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12th, 2018 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2505 Rockdale Road with Msgr. James Miller officiating. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post #6 will be at Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.
Douglas was born on February 17, 1939, in Three Rivers, Michigan, son of Bruce and Evelyn Wilcox.
Douglas married Katherine Salser on April 19, 1975 in Galena, IL where they lived for the first 19 years of their marriage. They then moved to Dubuque where they lived for many years. Douglas and Katherine spent 43 wonderful years together. Douglas worked at the Dubuque Packing House for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, football, playing cards, and most importantly spending time with his family. He is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
Douglas was a loving and caring man. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Always loved and never ever forgotten.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Katherine Wilcox, children Douglas Jr. Wilcox, Thomas (Bonnie) Wilcox, Velma Burton, and Joseph (Lisa) Wilcox. Donald Salser, Sarah (Robert) Foley, Cathy Salser, George (Thess) Salser, and Marla (Mike) Lange. 25 grand-children, and 43 great-grandchildren. His siblings Carolyn Larson and Eunice (Roy) Odem and many nieces and nephews.
Douglas was proceeded in death by his parents Bruce and Evelyn Wilcox, step-mother Janet Wilcox and his first wife Ruth Berger.
