Floyd Joseph Driscoll, 73, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 18th, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 21st, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Dianne Grace.
Floyd was born on May 16, 1944 in Cascade, Iowa the son of Earl and Hilda (Lasche) Driscoll. He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. He married Janet Ahlers on September 2nd, 1967.
In 2009 he retired from Dubuque County after 42 years.
He loved animals especially dogs, and always had a dog treat on hand. He was a very generous man, and avid handyman who could build anything and always wanted to help others.
He loved going to Florida and spending time with many friends there. Floyd had an amazing sense of humor and entertained family and friends on a daily basis.
He was an amazing husband and father and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Janet; his children Anne Mooney of Portland, and Kenneth (Sherry) Driscoll, of Dubuque. His grandchildren, Josh (Amy) Driscoll, and Katie (Milan Grubl) Husemann; great grandchildren, Olivia, Mason and Waylan Driscoll; his faithful companion “Ming”; siblings, Joyan (Richard) Holdridge, of Dubuque, Ronald Driscoll, of Ames, Iowa, Marlene (Robert) Schiffer, of Dubuque; broher-in-law Jack (MelRose) Ahlers; and sister-in-law Linda (Kenneth) Neumann, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, MaDonna (Gerald) Schwartz and Clete (Sandy) Driscoll; mother and father-in-law Ed and Wilma Ahlers; brothers and sisters-in-law Martha Driscoll, Sonja Miller and Donald (Rook) Ahlers.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque especially Tim and Peggy, and to Dr. Mark Moore, his office and his nurse Sandy for all their wonderful care they gave.
