Francis J. Tekippe, 86 of 62 Collins St., Dubuque died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Saint Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post #6. Visitation for will be Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 5:00 p.m.

Francis was born July 10, 1931 in Fort Atkinson, Iowa to Aloysius & Grace (Smith) Tekippe.

He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on December 16, 1955, and received a National Defense Service Medal. 

He married Elizabeth “Betty” Runde on October 16, 1970 and became step father to her six children. She preceded him in death in 2004. He worked at Dubuque Packing Company and FDL Foods until their closure. Afterwards he worked at Medical Associates Clinic. 

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.

He is survived by his step children, Rick (Maureen) Runde, and Bob (Kim) Runde, of Peosta, IA, Lynn (Roger) Skemp, of Hazel Green, WI, Chris Runde, of West Des Moines, IA, Pat (Karen) Runde, of Sarasota, Florida, and Karen (Greg) Nank, of West Des Moines, IA. His grandchildren, Kate (Josh) Hermsen, of Peosta, IA, Theresa (Woody) Angel, of Denver, Colorado, John Runde, of Chicago, Michael Runde, of Vermillion, South Dakota, Zach Runde, of West Des Moines, IA, Tony (fiancé Jenny Dalton) Skemp, of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, Ben (Lauren) Skemp, of Dickeyville, WI, Lauren and Ella Runde, of Sarasota, Florida, Max (Katelynn) Nank, of Dyersville, IA, Alex (Sarah) Nank, of Waterloo, Iowa, and Peter and Charlie Nank, of West Des Moines, IA; along with seven great grandchildren with one on the way. His siblings Joe (Janet) Tekippe, of Sherrill, IA and RoseAnn (Ray) Nienhaus, of Fort Atkinson, Iowa; brother-in-law Leonard Soukup; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty; his brother Benedict "Buddy" Tekippe and his wife Luella; his sister Ellen Soukup, and a special friend Mary Spielman. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center, Mercy Medical Center and Medical Associates, along with the City of Dubuque Fire and EMS for all their care they gave.
