Franklin D. Reavis

Franklin D. "Frank" Reavis, 75, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2017, at home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at Highland Lutheran Church in rural Elkader where there will be a short visitation at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.

Frank was born February 4, 1942 the son of Floyd and Ernestine (Schoien) Reavis in Postville, Iowa. He attended high school at Central Community and graduated with the class of 1960. He was a member of the track team and was the leading scorer for the basketball team.

He was employed at Belsky Motor Co., Shike-Richardson, and later retired as the Service Manager for Richardson Motors Dubuque. Frank was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Frank spent much of his time on his family farm located in Elgin, IA where he enjoyed morale and deer hunting. He liked to watch his grandchildren play sports and was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing for walleye.

Frank was mechanically inclined and loved to tinker with anything that had a motor. He was also competitive by nature whether it was playing euchre with family and friends or playing golf in which he enjoyed weekly up until this past year, (special thanks to Dave Paisley) Frank will be sadly missed by his family and friends but will be fondly remembered as a person who lived his life to the fullest.

He is survived by his sons Daniel (Kerry) Reavis of Dubuque, IA, Jason Reavis of Dubuque, Ryan Reavis of Delta, CO; sister Eleanor Krieg of Elkader, IA and her family; grandchildren Zachary, Logan and Rachel Reavis of Dubuque; longtime companion Darlene Hogan of Dubuque, IA; and Aunt Corinne Schoien of Elkader, IA.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Ernestine and Floyd "Shorty" Reavis; brother-in-law Neal Krieg; Aunt Arlene Schoien.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and the staff of Sunshine Home Care for their care and kindness; also to Bob Tharp who graciously cared for Frank; and a special acknowledgement to Dan Wolff who was like a son to Frank.
