Gary Francis Harry

Gary Francis Harry, 70, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 at Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

 Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Cathy Hedley officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery with Military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Family and friends may gather after 8:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service.

 Gary was born on November 11, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Lloyd E. and Harriet L. (Goerdt) Harry. Gary graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1965. Following high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps and served from 1966 to 1967 as a machine gunner. During this time Gary received two Purple Hearts while he was in Vietnam.

Gary returned home after his father passing with an honorable discharge. He then took over running his fathers Disposal Business and to help care for his younger siblings.

 Gary has interest in motorcycles, stock car racing, hunting and a great love for fishing. He enjoyed time at the casinos with special friends Jim and Carl. He especially enjoyed all the time spent at the barge with all of his friends. Gary also enjoyed his time spent with Herbie canning, gardening, butchering and all of their road trips.

 He is survived by his two children, Michelle (Ricardo Segura) Harry and Jason Harry. Four grandchildren, Daniel (Alex) Segura, Triston (Anna Farber) Harry, Brenden Harry, Miguel Segura, and his great granddaughter, Ivy Harry. His step-son Tony Harry; and siblings, Ted (Lynda) Harry, Jacqueline (Tony) Urbain, David (Myrna) Harry, Brian (Kim) Harry, Barbara (Hal) Burns, and Valerie Harry. Along with many nieces and nephews who he loved and adored.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Duane Harry, Lloyd Michael Harry, Malcolm Grossheim, Karel Reinert, and Mary Kay Harry and Connie Dement mother of Jason Harry.
