Geraldine T. Wiest

Geraldine Theresa “Dean” ‘Wiest, 80, of La Motte, Iowa passed away on November 18, 2018 at home after a brief battle with cancer. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25th, 2018 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a service will be at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Holy Rosary Cemetery, La Motte.

She was born on May 24, 1938 in La Motte, Iowa the daughter of Louis and Theresa (Lenz) Roussel. She married Marion Wiest on February 15, 1958 at St. Mary’s in Dubuque.

She worked at Flexsteel for many years, retiring in 2003 and was a member of the Upholsteries Union.

Dean enjoyed Bingo, crossword puzzles, the casino, playing cards, walking in the mall, quilting and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She loved country music, playing the guitar and singing at the Roussel Jam. She spoiled all of her grandchildren and her grand “dog” Dexter. 

She is survived by her husband Marion; five children, John (Tammy) Wiest, of Dubuque, Chris (Gene) Harris, of Jewett, Texas, Tina (David) Johnson, of Cleburne, Texas, Jeff (Dianne) Wiest, of Bellevue, and Jody (Scott) Portz, of Andrew, Iowa. Fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers Ray Roussel, of Dubuque and her twin Gerald (Bonnie) Roussel, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Jim; three sisters Millie, Dort, and Mary; one brother Bob.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
