Gregory “Shifty” Shireman, 62, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Tuesday March 6th, 2018 at Manor Care.
Gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon John Stierman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Gregory was born on October 20, 1955 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Norman and Mary (Ede) Shireman. He graduated from Senior High School in Dubuque.
For over 30 years Shifty worked for the Walnut Tap and for over 25 years worked at the Bridge Restaurant. He was an extremely hard worker. He was a member of Bunkerhill Golf Course for many years. Golf was his passion and he was also an amazing skier.
Greg Shireman, also widely known as “Shifty” was notorious for his work ethic, his love of golf, and his recipe for his Walnut Crushers that he served at the Walnut Tap form 30 years. He also had a great passion for cooking at the Bridge Restaurant. However, there was no stronger love than what he felt for his family especially his 8 grandchildren.
Shifty is loved by all and will always be remembered.
He is survived by his son’s Jeremy (Khi) Shireman, Zach Shireman and Ben (Natalie) Shireman, all of Dubuque. Eight grandchildren, Joslyn, Brooklynn, Kylie, Dane, Wyatt, Isla, Cayden and Zoe. His siblings, Christine Shireman, Ricky Shireman, Theresa Shireman and Karen (Jeff) Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Martin Shireman.
