Harriette Bernice (Borne) Meyer, 96 of St. Mary’s Apartments Dubuque was called home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 3rd, 2017 at Shady Rest Care Center.
According to her wishes a private family service will be held at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
Harriette was born on November 12, 1920 in Decorah, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Stella (Anderson) Borne. She was previously married to Delbert Meyer in 1951.
She worked as a waitress and hostess for many years with much of her time employed by the Dubuque Golf and Country Club.
Harriette was known for walking long distances around Dubuque. She cherished her faith, her family and her independence.
She is survived by her son Steven (Rosemary) Meyer, her step-daughter, Jacquelyn Meyer; granddaughter Stephanie who was the light of her life along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Donald Borne and a sister Margaret (Cecil) Tomkins.
The family would like to thank all those that showed their support these last few months. A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque especially our special angel Allison, along with Carol Vaassen, Kathy Kluesner, Mickey Buechele (her special niece) and Pastor Kincaid and the Our Redeemer members.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church School.
