Irene Revenig Obituary

Irene Pearl Revenig, 89, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away suddenly on November 11, 2018 at Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was a strong person and survived many battles with cancer. She was a fighter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, Key West with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 4:00pm.

Irene was born on October 16, 1929 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Aloysius and Gertrude (Majerus) Krayer. She married Richard Revenig on February 5, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2002.

She retired from Flexsteel after many years of service. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. She especially enjoyed their winters spent in Arizona.

Irene loved to cook and bake, she was known for her famous cream puffs. She loved her time spent with her family and helped with whatever they needed.

Irene was a kind and generous person like her mother. She was not one to sit and watch tv, she was always busy cooking or hanging out her laundry.

There are three words that best describe Irene: Beautiful-Thoughtful-Kind.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Mark) Hohmann, Diane (Curtis) Storla, and Rick (Alice) Revenig. Eight grandchildren, Julie (Scott) Noonan, Carissa Robey, Marcie (Tony) Buss, Ron (Nona) Goin, Jason (Tracey) Goin, Joe (Tia) Fries, Ryan (Tabitha) Revenig, Reva Jansen. Twenty three great grandchildren along with many great great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Adell; and three brothers Clem, Earl and Bud; and a nephew Ray Gene Bahl who she helped raise.
