Ivyl Mae M. Volkert, 95 of Dubuque, passed away on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.
She was born on August 13, 1923 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of John and Mathilda (Meyer) Beerman. She married Clifford Volkert on August 16, 1943.
Ivyl was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and being a fulltime homemaker.
She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Dubuque Women’s Bowling Association. She like to have a cold Bud Light while on the sand bar with friends. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and especially the Chicago White Sox.
“Mom granted dad his final wish, that she would finally be on top.”
She is survived by her three sons, Ronald (Dianna), Terry (Bev) and Kenneth; her daughter-in-law Tina; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford; a son Dennis; her sister Bertil and a brother Wilford.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Liaboe and the staff at Grand River Medical Center, Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all their wonderful care they gave to Ivyl.
