Joshua Stevens Obituary

Joshua Glenn Stevens, 26, of Dubuque, IA passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018.

A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Other Side in East Dubuque, IL. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. is assisting the family.

Joshua was born October 8, 1991, in Dubuque, IA the son of Jeff Stevens and Carlene (Howell) Hillard. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He joined the Airforce and served our Country proudly for 6 years. He ended his time in the Airforce in 2017 as Staff Sergeant. Before he enlisted Josh worked at Taco John's, and when he would come home to visit this was one of the first places he would stop not just to see past co-workers but to grab a bite to eat. He loved the food and would always say "there are no Taco John's down south so I have to eat it when I am home.” Joshua enjoyed Karate when he was younger and playing baseball for the little league Cubs team. He had a great gift in math and built his first computer already by the age of 16. He loved gaming and bowling with his cousins Travis Stevens and Logan Stevens “the three Musketeers” and looked up to his coach Keven Stevens. He enjoyed listening to music, hanging out with friends and family and playing golf. He also enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool. But mostly adored playing with his beautiful 21 month old daughter who meant the world to him. On April 25, 2014 he married the love of his life Elle Jordan Taylor (Keys) Stevens in Shreveport, LA.

Joshua was an amazing person who loved to share his knowledge with others, some say he was hard to get to know but those he let in, got to know how great of a person he truly was. He made many great friends during his time in the Airforce! Family would like to mention a few of them that were a big part of his life. William Glazer, Philip Joshua Hendricks, Brantly Riebe and Patty Chuenpreecha McLarty.

Survivors include his Wife Elle Jordan Stevens and Daughter Aris Marie Stevens both of Bernard IA; parents, Jeff Stevens “Broseff” of Dubuque and Carlene (Howell) Hillard (Lynn), of Bernard IA, maternal grandmother, Myrna Howell (David Harry), of Dubuque; maternal grandfather, Glenn Howell (Mary Birch) of Dubuque IA; Aunt & Godmother Gerry Becker; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Anna Stevens; paternal grandfather Francis Stevens; maternal great grandmother, Donna “Bingo Grandma” Howell; maternal great grandfather Carl Howell; maternal great grandparents Bill and Mildred Liqhtfoot: great uncle Michael Howell; and Uncle Joe Walbrun.
