Kathy A. Stumpf, 66 of Asbury, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 24, 2017.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Rev. Andrew Marr officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends may gather after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.
Kathy was born on December 19, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Dorrance and Marilyn (Kieffer) Welter. She graduated from the Academy of the Visitation, class of 1968 and then attended the University of Wisconsin Platteville.
She married Donald Stumpf, her loving husband of nearly 48 years on September 20, 1969 at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, IL.
Kathy was an RSVP Volunteer and for many years delivered mobile meals out of Finley Hospital. She was also a driver for DuRide and she enjoyed visiting with all the great people she met through these groups.
For many years Kathy and Don spent the winter months at their home in Ft. Myers, Florida where they enjoyed having their family and friends visit.
She is survived by her husband Don; one son Don Jr. of Dubuque, and daughter Julie (Alan) Gahlbeck, of Des Peres, MO. Her grandson Nolan; two brothers, Dick (Margaret) Welter, of Kieler, WI and Dennis Welter, of Galena. Her brothers and sister-in-law, Daniel (Mary) Stumpf, Ron (Janet) Stumpf, Luke (Deb) Stumpf, and Kim Stumpf, all of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her loving grandson Ethan Gahlbeck; her parents; one brother; two brothers-in-law; and her caring in-laws Bonnie and Ralph.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice of Dubuque or Noah’s Hope to help fight against Batten Disease.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hermann and his staff; Hospice of Dubuque especially Cindy, and to all the family and friends for the cards, flowers, thoughts and prayers.
