Melvin Eugene Smeltzer

Melvin Eugene “Gene” Smeltzer Jr. 55, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 25th, 2019 in Dubuque, Iowa. Gene was born on June 26, 1963 in Ohio. 

Gene spent most of his life working for Key City Moving & Storage and enjoyed his work there greatly. Gene was a friendly soul who was able to make friends no matter where he went,  and was loved greatly by all that knew him. 

He is preceded in death by his mother Betty. His is survived by his sister Terri & her husband Al (Brianna), his brother Greg (Greg Jr.), and his daughter Dana & her husband Jamie, as well as his aunts, uncles, and several cousins. 

Services will be held at Crossroads Community Church (900 Galena Square Drive, Galena IL 61036) at 5:30pm on May 6th, 2019 

In Leiu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dubuque County General Relief Fund or Dubuque Rescue Mission in Gene’s name.
