Michael McAllister Obituary

Michael Paul “Mick” McAllister, 64, of Zwingle, IA passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at home. A

funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. Dubuque with Deacon Jim Schmidt officiating. Family and friends may gather after 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Otter Creek.

Mick was born in Dubuque, IA on September 16, 1954 the son of Paul and Myrtle (Bergfeld) McAllister. He graduated from Maquoketa High School. Mick spent many years as a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver from which he retired. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mick was a proud father and even prouder grandfather. He enjoyed attending ball games for the grandkids, dinners with family and spending time at the County Line talking to old friends and making new ones.

He is survived by his children, Aubrey (Randy) Winslow, Brandon McAllister, Courtney (Jason) Dolan, Devin (Christine) McAllister, and Elliot (Ashley) McAllister; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Karen Strane, Kathy (David) Schrier, and Beverly (Robert) Mausser; and several nieces and nephews.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy Shearer and a brother, Kenneth McAllister.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mick’s friends at the County Line for the great times and continued friendship to Mick over the years.
