Paul Wilfred Clasen, 64, of LaMotte, Iowa passed away on April 23, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at St. Joseph Church Key West with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in LaMotte. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 3:00 p.m.
Paul was born on March 1, 1953 in Bellevue, Iowa the son of Vincent and Alverda (Bonifas) Clasen. He graduated from Marquette High School and also completed EMS Training.
He married Lois Hutchcroft on June 8, 1974 at Holy Rosary Church.
Paul worked for Edwards Concrete Contractors (ECCI) in Dubuque from 1972 until retirement in 2015.
He was a member of the Bellevue Golf Course, Volunteer and EMS Director for LaMotte Fire Department, City Council Member for LaMotte and a member of St. Joseph Church in Key West.
Paul was an avid outdoorsmen, he enjoyed gardening, golfing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking projects, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lois, Three children, Chad Clasen, Keith (Inna) Clasen, Kayla (Justin Hanson) Clasen. Two grandchildren Aiden and Mila Clasen. His siblings, Rosey (Ray) Stephan, Chris (Connie) Clasen, Alice (Dave) Schwager, Doris (Mark) Denniston, William (Connie) Clasen, Dorothy (Gary) Snyder, Mary (Marv) Budde, and Sandy (Jerry) Christensen. He is also survived by eight brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
