Raymond L. Tschiggfrie, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Friday, November 10th, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Joseph Hauer officiating. Committal prayers will follow at the church following mass. Private burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12th, 2017 at the Church of the Resurrection with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. and honor guard by the Knights of Columbus Council 510.  Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Ray was born on October 4, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa the son of John and Theresa (Duschen) Tschiggfrie. He attended Nativity School and Loras Asademy. He married Phyllis Fluhr on March 15, 1950 in Earlville, Iowa.

He worked at Trausch Bakery for 10 years and then owned and operated Ray’s AMOCO on Dodge and Bryant for 35 years along with having 50 plus years of snow plow service.

Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 510, founding member of Iowa Towing Association, and lifelong member of Lacoma Golf Club.
Ray was a hardworking man who was always helping others and a good friend to all. He was an avid golfer, he enjoyed to watch the Green Bay Packers and having coffee with his golfing buddies. He loved spending time on his acreage, taking care of their horses and feeding the wild animals. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis; three children, John (Diane) Tschiggfrie, Steve (Kathy) Tschiggfrie, and Dawn (Curt) Mathe. Five grandchildren, Brian Tschiggfrie, Amy (Justin) Mills, Jason Tschiggfrie, Scott Tschiggfrie, and Amanda Mathe; seven great grandchildren; his brothers William and Gene and a sister Rita Johns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Brenda; his brothers, Ken and Thomas and his sister Ardelle Ginthe.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ronald Schope and his nurse Lori and to the staff of Hospice of Dubuque for all their wonderful care and support.
