Robert L. McCarron

Robert L. McCarron, 89, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on December 1st, 2017 at Manor Care.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 4:00p.m.

Bob was born on May 14, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Robert and Julia (Wolfe)  McCarron. He married Hilda Simon on November 26, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubuque. She preceded him in death on December 26th, 2010.

He worked for the former Dubuque Packing Company for over 45 years until his retirement. He was a member of the UFCW Local 150 A and St. Columbkilles Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, but most of all he enjoyed his time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his children, Nancy (Terrence “Darby”) O’Neill, of Aurora, CO., Barb (Bob) Hinz-Pfab, of Dubuque, Patrick McCarron, of Seattle, Colleen (Ron) Huseman, of Denver, Beverly McCarron, of Denver, Steven (Michelle) McCarron, of Dubuque, Douglas (Heather) McCarron, of Keokuk, IA, and Roger (Anina) McCarron, of Chicago, daughter-in-law Sue McCarron, of Dubuque. 23 grandchildren, Michael, Tony, Matthew, Luke, Megan, Molly, Brady, Katie, Brian, Nicholas, Natalie, Ashley, Jenny, Chet, Jessica, Brennan, Riley, Madeline, Brandon, Sydney, Nicole, Miller and Emmet; 27 great grandchildren. Siblings, Connie Kelly, of Dubuque, Therese Lampe, of Bettendorf, IA, Michael and Dan McCarron, of Dubuque, and Kevin McCarron, of Marion, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Hilda, a son Robert, son-in-law Tom Hinz, brothers Hugh McCarron and Patrick in infancy.

The family wishes to thank Manor Care for all their wonderful care and kindness they gave to Bob.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
