Ryan Paul Schromen, 29, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on September 25, 2017 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Christian Kincaid officiating.

Ryan was born on December 31, 1987 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Lloyd “Butch Schromen and Linda Hadowanetz. He married Emily Amunrud on June 16, 2012.

Ryan was an avid Green Bay Packer, Chicago Cubs, and Blackhawks fan, enjoyed to fish with his brother Danny, enjoyed stock car racing and working on cars especially his dads Corvette, and cooking especially with garlic.

He is survived by his wife Emily Schromen, and her son Brayden Amunrud; his parents, Lloyd “Butch” Schromen, and Linda Kenkel, both of Dubuque. His siblings, April (John) Berendes, of St. Donatus, Kelly Schmitt, of Dubuque, Danny Schromen, of Dubuque, Step-sisters, Shelly (Butch) Rosecke, Karen (Eugene) Dwars, Jackie Kenkel, Kerrie Bidlingmaier, his nieces and nephews, Autumn, Jeremy, Morgan, Will, Aubree, Robert, Elyse, and Willa.  His best friends Derrik and Brandon Bredekamp and Chris and Josh Clemen.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, two brothers Robert “Robbie” Schromen, and Lloyd Schromen Jr.; his step father Robert “Bob” Kenkel; and his good friend Oldag.

The family wishes to thank all of Ryan’s doctors at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Dr. Bishop, Dr. Elliot, Dr. Sharif, Dr. Hoshi, and Dr. Berkowitz; also to U of I Home Care and Unity Point Home care for all their wonderful care they gave to Ryan.

 In lieu of flowers a Ryan Schromen memorial fund will be established.
