Shirley Regan Obituary

Shirley Marie Regan, 86, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on April 22, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25th, 2018 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 4:00 p.m.

Shirley was born on June 13, 1931 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Mary Cherrier. She graduated from Immaculate Conception in Dubuque and in her younger years she was an award-winning roller-skater.

She married Julian “Jukes” Regan on June 9, 1956 in Dubuque, Iowa. They spent 53 fun filled years together.

Shirley was a loving homemaker and after the kids were older she worked at Younkers in Dubuque as a Customer Sales Associate.

She was a member of the Dubuque Land Campers Club where she made many lasting friendships. 

She enjoyed walking at the mall with her sister Jeanette, camping, traveling with Jukes in the RV, family vacations, and fishing with the crew in Minong, WI. For over fifty years her and Jukes had their monthly card club with their lifelong friends. She loved to sing and dance and always had a smile on her face.  

Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; her family came first, she loved to get everyone together for family celebrations.

She is survived by her three children, Mary Kay (Mike) Webb, of Dubuque, Dianna “Diane” (Tim) Riniker, of Durango, and Dave (Dawn) Regan, of Dodgeville, WI. Eight Grandchildren, Jennifer, Russell, Matthew, Emily, Ashley, Brock, Maxwell, and Aubree along with 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Julian “Jukes” Regan; two siblings, Jeanette (Jack) Murphy and William (Jean) Cherrier.

In lieu of flowers a Shirley M. Regan memorial fund will be established.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Stonehill Care Center and to Hospice of Dubuque especially Katie G. for all the wonderful care they all gave to Shirley.
