Steve Engstrom

Steve “Engo,” Engstrom, age 55, of Dubuque, IA formerly of the Des Moines area passed away on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at home in the arms of his loving wife.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Schmitt officiating.

Steve was born on September 25, 1963 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Keith Engstrom & Nancy (Adcock) Engstrom. He graduated from Johnston High School in 1982, “Brew Crew of 82,”

He married Kathy (Lonergan) Engstrom, on March 20, 1999 in Urbandale, IA, and they shared 20 beautiful years together.

Steve worked several years at R&D Plastics in Earlham, IA and worked at John Deere Dubuque Works in Assembly since 2014.

Steve loved the outdoors-hunting, fishing, golfing, and yard work.  NASCAR racing was a passion, the Earnhardts filled his weekends.  Love to Jamie Schirm #56 in Stuart, IA.

He is survived by his wife Kathy; his son Daniel (Megan) Engstrom of Des Moines, IA; stepson Joshua Blasen of Dubuque; and stepdaughter April (Casey) Buol of Dubuque. Four amazing grandchildren: Carter Kronfeldt, Nathan Blasen, Joey Blasen, and Aubrina Buol. His father, Keith Engstrom of Grimes and mother, Nancy Engstrom of Des Moines. His siblings Scott Engstrom of Des Moines, Cheri (Shawn) Sutton of Grimes, Cindi (Scott) Culbertson of Des Moines, Justin Engstrom of Des Moines, half-sister Shannon Miller of Cedar Rapids, half-sister Becky (Jesse) Gearhart of Cedar Rapids, and half-brother Rodney (Crystal) Miller of Cedar Rapids. Many nephews and nieces who each held a special place in his heart.  

He was preceded in death by Don Miller, his biological father.
