Steven Steines Obituary

Steven John Steines, “Wirehead”, 63, of La Motte, Iowa passed away at his home on November 18, 2018 following a brave four-year battle with cancer. Steve was the beloved husband of Molly (Till) Steines and loving father of Stevi, Brady, and Connor Steines.

Steve was born on July 19, 1955 in Bellevue, IA to Attalas and Algean (Junk) Steines. He graduated from Bellevue Marquette High School in 1973 and Kirkwood Community College in 1974. In 1976, he established Steve’s Body Shop and La Motte Auto Sales, which he successfully owned and operated for more than forty years. He took great pride in his work, and his loyal customers appreciated his candor and work ethic. Steve married the love of his life, Molly, on October 8, 1977.

Steve never met a stranger and was the life of every party. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, spending time on his farm, playing euchre, golfing, watching Fox News, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Oakland Raiders. Steve was a fun-loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and member of his community. He previously served on the La Motte City Council, La Motte Fire Department, La Motte Community Club, and the Maquoketa State Bank Advisory Board. Steve will be missed for his larger than life personality and unique sense of humor.

Steve is survived by his wife, Molly; his children, Stevi (Ami Copeland) of Chicago and Connor (Emily) of Iowa City; grandson Aviv Copeland; siblings Judy (Dennis) Boeckenstedt of Petersburg, IA, Dave (Joyce) Steines of Woodstock, GA, Bernie (Suzie) Steines of Bellevue, Mike (Jane) Steines of Bellevue, and Angie (Jeff) Kilburg of Bellevue; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his son, Brady (October 21, 2018); sister, Darla Laughlin; twin brother, Woven; his parents, Attalas and Algean; and his father- and mother-in-law, Tony and Dolly Till.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Happy’s Place from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 in Dubuque. A private service will be held at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory in Dubuque.
