There are not enough words to express the love and compassion that everyone felt and received from him.  His greatest love and devotion was for his wife Lisa, since the age of 18. He raised the bar of how a man should be a husband and father.  Tim was a big teddy bear, that wore his heart on his sleeve (the shirt must be a button up, short sleeve, with one pocket). A career maintenance man in work and in life. A Hempstead High School graduate, a retired Santa Claus of 30 years, beautiful singer, and a man of many talents that ranged from construction, cooking, coaching and so much more. There are not enough words that can express the loss his family will feel or the fullness of their hearts that he brought to them. He was the laughter, the heart, the joy, and the anchor of our lives.  Tim always made sure that when welcoming or saying goodbye he must give everyone a strong, gentle hug and say “I love you". Tim's beliefs were that family always comes first, live life to the fullest in laughter, song and kindness and there could never be enough grandbabies. When you hear someone say “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” stop and consider how Timmy would say “Winner Winner Apple Pie” just one of the many other “Timmyisms” that made you laugh and love him deeply.

His spirit is carried on by his wife of 40 years Lisa (Jobgen) Burnes; 4 children, son and daughter-in-laws,  Sandy (Brian) Mostaert, Lynn (Aaron) Rasmussen, Tony (Jackie) Burnes, Jesse (Brittany) Burnes; 7 grandchildren. As well as his HUGE extended family of 5 siblings, Debbie (Ted) Peterson, Steve (Lori) Burnes, Tammy (Joe) Henry, Michele (Deanne Fitzgerald) Burnes, Lisa Burnes; father Calvin Burnes;  10 close sister and brother-in-laws, 17 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews; a close friend of 47 years who was like a second brother, Steve (Cathy) Korman and family; and friends from every walk of his life that loved him from the moment they met him.

He preceded in death by mother, Janet Burnes; in-laws Charles (Chuck) and Rita Jobgen; great-nephew Will Sawatzky

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Cancer Treatment Center of America, Dr. Kenneth Martin, Hospice of Dubuque and many others that came out to help financially and emotionally support Tim and his family through his 5 month cancer journey.
