Vera D. Leuchs

Vera Leuchs, 83, of Dubuque Iowa passed away November 2nd, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center.

Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, Key West with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. at the church until time of service. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is in charge of arrangements.

Vera was born May 21, 1934 in Bellevue, Iowa. She was the daughter to Elmer and Lena (Berendes) Herrig. She married Joseph M. Leuchs on June 13, 1953 in Maquoketa, Iowa and he preceded her in death.  

Vera worked in retail her whole life, working in many different areas. She enjoyed dancing, needlework, puzzles, celebrations, and traveling to Arizona with her husband.

She is survived her sons Robert (Kathy) Leuchs of Avondale, AZ and David (Karla) Leuchs, of Dubuque; grandchildren Joseph (Stacy) Leuchs, Nick (Sarah) Hansel, Bob (Rebekka) Hansel, Lisa Hansel; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ethel (Don) Daugherty, Evelyn (Bob) Bunting, Diane Hagemann, Colleen Wilson, and brother-in-law Bob Beschen.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe; her daughter Jean Leuchs; brother & sisters-in-law Ed (Eleanor) Leuchs, Clarence Leuchs, Rita (Bill) Oberbroeckling, Bernard Leuchs, Dolores Leuchs; as well as Velma Kramer, Carol Beschen, and Bill Wilson.

In lieu of flowers Memorials can be sent to The American Liver Foundation.

The family would like to that the staff and medical personnel at Hawkeye Care Center, Hospice of Dubuque and special friend Mike and Mark (April) Till.
