Virginia Cupps Obituary

Virginia Belle (Schumacher) Cupps, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on November 13th, 2018 at Luther Manor.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 17th, 2018 at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas McDermott officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 6:45 p.m.

Virginia was born on February 10, 1931 the daughter of Melvin and Alice (Skinner) Schumacher. She married Gerald “Jerry” Cupps on August 29, 1953 They were married for 56 Years before he passed away in October of 2009. She worked for the former Dubuque Packing Company for many years.

She was raised and loved by her grandparents and many cousins on the Skinner Family farm in Cassville, Wisconsin. Virginia was always there for others and loved by many.

Virginia was a singer in a band with her husband Jerry along with other family and friend's. They played at many places in Dubuque, Illinois and Wisconsin. She really enjoyed singing, and cooking, especially her Christmas candies and Halloween treats. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, crossword and jigsaw puzzle, giving to her neighbors, and caring for others. She loved all the staff and activities at Luther Manor

Virginia loved her children dearly and was a wonderful mother. She was cherished by her nieces and nephews, along with her neighbors and their children.

She will be greatly missed. As Ginny often said, "Be a good person, and hugs and kisses to all."

She is survived by her five children, Jim E. Cupps, Gene M. (Vickie) Cupps, Carol M. (Don) Maas, Joe A. (Sheree) Cupps, and Jackie A. (Dave) Kieffer. Grandchildren Tina (White) Jellison, Chris Somers, John "Jake" White, Jenna (Daryl) Atkinson, and Samantha Cupps. Step Grandchildren Timothy (Christin) Breitbach, Jeremy Burkart, Chad Burkart, Linsay (Frederick) Nsengimana, Stephanie (Jordan) Duve, Amanda Maas and Austin Maas, along with 18 Great Grandchildren. Siblings, Eileen (Pete) Blum, Ramona Bausch and Carol Bausch; 18 step siblings on her father's side; Sisters-in-law, Joan Neuses, Jean Cupps,

She was preceded in death by her parents; Mother and father-in-law Edward and Viola Cupps. brother Dewayne “Buster” (Betty) Schumacher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony Bausch Jr., Leo Neuses, Robert Cupps, Barbara (Richard) Freund, Mary Ellen Johnson, Kenneth Konzen, Kenneth Cupps, and Virginia Cupps.
