Barry K. Culbertson, 66, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on July 18th, 2026, at home.

According to his wishes no services will be held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd is assisting the family.

Barry was born on July 22, 1959, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Merwin and Dorothy (Desotel) Culbertson.

Barry held many culinary positions over the years which included: Sunbeam Baking Company, Loras College, the Elks Club and 20 plus years at Casey's Convenience store.

He was a member of the Dubuque Drum and Bugle Corp and the American Legion

Barry was kindhearted, gentle, generous, and humble. He was selfless and always eager to help anyone in need, including family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances from his workplaces, and even strangers. He often helped elderly acquaintances with snow removal, lawn care, and handyman projects. Barry truly enjoyed helping others. Barry had a gift for drawing and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing.

He is survived by his sister, Sherri Licht, of Peosta, IA; nieces and nephews that he treasured: Stacey Licht (Doug Gray) of, Rochester, MN, Kelly Stratton of Dewitt, IA, Jody Livesay (Rod) of Goose Lake, IA, Sean Culbertson (Kimberly Brozovich) of Coal Valley, IL, Lee Culbertson (Tammy Freiburger), of Palm Bay, FL, Michael Culbertson (Renee Krier), of Dubuque, IA and Coby Culbertson (Angie) of Peosta, IA. His aunt Myrna DeSotel, of Volga, IA, and his Godson, Jason Harkey of Dubuque, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy A. Culbertson and Merwin Culbertson; maternal Grandparents Howard and Mildred DeSotel; uncle Donald DeSotel; brothers Jerry Culbertson, Michael “Mickey” Culbertson and Donald ”Donnie” Culbertson.

The family has requested no flowers or plants be sent.
