Bradley Michael Atchison, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on September 17th, 2024, in Dubuque, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A funeral service will follow Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Cremation rites will follow the service, and a burial will be held at a later date.
Brad was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. Shortly after graduating from Hempstead Senior High School in 2006, Brad left Dubuque to work for the Astro Amusement//North American Midway Entertainment company in Crystal Lake, IL. During his years there, he traveled to various cities and states, setting up midway games and rides for local fairs. He worked his way up from a game booth operator to a Certified Ride Safety Inspector, something he worked hard for.
In 2014, Brad moved back home to be closer to his family. He began pursuing Diesel Mechanics and, in 2018, graduated from NICC with his Associate’s Degree—a feat that he took great pride in. In 2019, he began working for Truck Country, doing what he loved—working on diesel engines. During his time at Truck Country, he completed multiple courses and became certified in many different aspects of diesel trucks.
Brad was an easy-going, laid-back guy who loved a good laugh, his “Bow Tie” Chevy, and valued his family and true friendships. Raised with two sassy sisters, Brad quickly mastered the art of sarcasm and quick wit. His antics, comebacks, facial expressions, and Mt. Dew obsession will be deeply missed by so many.
Brad is survived by his mother, Shelley (Stoffel) Atchison, his father, David Atchison, two sisters, Jacqueline (Tony) Burnes and Danielle (Special Friend Jessy Diaz) Atchison, nephews and nieces, Jace Mihalakis, Emma, Logan, and Noah Burnes, Gianna and Jaden Atchison, and Zoey Diaz, Grandparents Vera (Guler) Stoffel, William Stoffel, and Fieldon Atchison, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his two dogs, Diesel and Tommy, and many close friends.
Brad was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Leah “GG” Stoffel and grandmother Mary Jo Atchison.
The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the entire Truck Country Team, your compassion and support during this difficult time are unmeasurable.
The family would also like to thank the first responders who were on the scene, especially Officer Lembke, for his patience and humanity.
Brad’s sudden departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts that will be felt forever. His memory will continue to inspire us, guide us, and keep us laughing.
