Charles M. Johnson, 68, of Dubuque, IA, passed away May 7, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Victor St. George officiating and full military honors accorded by American Legion Post #6.
Charles was born May 21, 1956, in Price, Utah, to Fred Johnson Sr. and Laura Thomas. He served in the Army from 1975-1979. He later married Mary Payne.
He worked as a semi-driver for 50+ years for multiple companies, Charlies Leather Works and Wears and Dubuque Moving & Storage before his retirement on April 11, 2025. He was an avid supporter and donor to all types of motorcycle benefits. Charlie wore his flaws as obviously as he did his virtues, living by a code of love, forgiveness, and generosity. He loved and accepted anyone that would let him.
Charlie is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Mary Johnson; son, Jeremiah (Amanda) Johnson; grandsons, Kennan and Kirran Johnson; sister, Janell (Isaiah) Solomon; brother, Fred Johnson Jr.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
