Charles L. Koranda

Charles L. “Chuck” Koranda, 76, of Dubuque IA passed away on October 16, 2023, at UnityPoint Finley Hospital in Dubuque.

A celebration of life for Chuck will be held Friday October 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd Dubuque IA 52003. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. with military honors to follow by American Legion Post #6.

He was born April 2, 1947, in Arizona to Raymond C. and Eurenia F. (Powers) Koranda.

Chuck was a Vietnam Navy veteran and received his master’s in social work from Loras College. He married JoLynn M. Plumely on August 6, 2016. Chuck retired from Walmart after 17 years.

Chuck is survived by his wife JoLynn; children Bart Sherman, Rebecca (Buddy Brandenburg) Janzig, David (Tanya Clark) Janzig, Matthew (Beka) Janzig, William Koranda, Daniel Koranda, Trasa Koranda, Troy Koranda and Ashley Green; brother Garld "Gary" R. (Helen) Koranda; sister Nancy R. David; 28 grandchildren and 1 great-grand-daughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Paula F. Koranda; brothers-in-law Lonnie Plumely, Steve Plumely, and Scott David; father-in-law Eugene M. Plumely.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses on 5 north at UnityPoint Finley Hospital, and the VA hospital in Iowa City, for their care and kindness.
