Cindy M. Hofland

Cecelia “Cindy” M. Hofland of Dubuque passed away Friday November 17, 2023.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. with a funeral service at 5:30 p.m. with Deacon Mike Timmerman officiating at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet at a later date.

Cindy was born January 7, 1945, in Asbury IA. to Leo and Margaret (Fortman) Wernimont.

She graduated 8th grade from a one room school house and went on to work in the service industry all her life. She spent the most amount of time working at Bishop’s Buffet where she retired from. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher and nature lover. She also enjoyed country music, thrift store shopping which she referred to as “bumming around”, going to the “drive in” for a burger and a shake, and any outings with her grandkids.

Cindy is survived by her daughters Sheri Scheffert, Shelley (Jay) Lanser; grandchildren Lisa (Casey), Steve (Heather), Kevin (Olivia), Alicia, and Amanda; great-grandchildren Devon, Alex, Alexis, Alison, Sawyer, Cleo, Thomas, Mylo, and Lorelei; brothers Robert (Janeen) Wernimont, Jeff (Jo) Wernimont, and Gary Wernimont.

She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Kellie; great-grandchild Kalvin; and brother Larry.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hermann and staff for their kindness and compassion, and to Jeff and Linda for their willingness to always lend a helping hand to ensure mom could remain in her home.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
