Corrine Mae Ploessl

Corrine Mae Ploessl, 68, of Dubuque, IA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

Cory was born on January 1, 1958, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of James and Lois (Kennedy) Ploessl. She graduated from Loras College with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. She worked at her mother's restaurant, Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing, and Wendy’s.

She loved gardening and the outdoors. Her family always came first, she adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cory was very proud of earning her college degree, it was one of her greatest accomplishments.

Cory is survived by her children, Peggy Jo Blackburn of Dubuque, and Robert Blackburn of Dubuque, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Billie Jo, her parents, grandparents, a sister and brother, many aunts and uncles, along with a special friend Neil Winger.
