Daniel F. Steffen

Daniel Francis Steffen, 68, of Zwingle, Iowa, passed away on Friday October 18, 2024, at Accura HealthCare of Cascade of complications of diabetes.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 21, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Dan was born on September 30, 1956, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Leon and Anna Mae (Donlinger) Steffen. He was a graduate of Maquoketa High School class of 1974. He married Karen Dunne on August 8th, 1981.

Dan spent 50 years in the agriculture industry. He purchased his first 25 Holstein cows when he was a senior in high school. With the help of his family, he increased the dairy operation and expanded into row crop production. His pastime was spent attending tractor pulls.

Dan is survived by his wife Karen, their children Eric Steffen, Gregory Steffen, Brian (Jenna) Steffen all of Zwingle, and a grandson due to make his debut into Dan’s legacy next month, siblings Dean (Ronay) Steffen of Maquoketa, Karla (Jim) Mahoney of Bernard and Karen (L.J.) Stoffel of Peosta, and siblings-in-law Dorothy Steffen, Kevin (Lorie) Dunne, Sharon (Doug) Swanson, David (Carol) Dunne, Bryan Dunne and Steven “Whitey” Dunne, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Darrell Steffen.

In lieu of flowers a Daniel Steffen memorial fund will be established.
