David Wayne Muntz

David Wayne Muntz, 60 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on September 25, 2021, in the comfort of his family and home.

Family and friends may gather from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2nd, 2021, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Hickson officiating and military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

David was born on February 11, 1961, in Dubuque, IA the son of Gerald Muntz and Donna (Eppler) Muntz. He married Dina (Demmer) Muntz on November 24, 1984, at Nativity Church, Dubuque Iowa. He was a US Navy Veteran, Quarter Master.

Retired from Anderson Windows, formerly Eagle Window and Door after 33 years of service.

What lit up Dave’s world was attending his son’s football games, where they established a bond over football that carried over into their love and loyalty for the Minnesota Vikings. He cherished the days he taught his daughter to fish and find the magic in music. Dave had a few nicknames, but will certainly be remembered as, The Candy Man to his, “lovies.” He really enjoyed the gift of giving, Christmas was his favorite time of year, where he got to see little faces light up with excitement and anticipation. Feeding birds was more than a hobby, but another gift of giving back in his eyes. April lilacs gave him the go-ahead to forage for his favorite delicacy, the morel. Dave was the best kind of instigator, a little nudge of sarcasm went a long way for this man and was always shown by a twinkle in his eye and smirk in the curve of his lips, he loved to stoke his wife’s fire, but above all, he found love through his lighthouse, his soulmate and best friend.

He is survived by hie wife, Dina (Demmer) Muntz; his son, David Muntz II; his daughter, Tiana (Muntz) Schrobilgen; his son-In-law, Travis; Grandchildren, Devin, Kiara, Kaleigh, and Maverick of Dubuque, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Debbie Duve.

The family would like to extend a special thank you, to Dr. Cheryl Morgan-Ihrig and the nursing staff of Mercy Cancer Center for helping Dave fight his battle and another special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque for helping him finish out his journey the way he wanted to. In addition to his group of warriors they would like to thank, Leonard Funeral Home and their staff  for their assistance in the memorial of his life here on earth.
