Dolores "Dee" M. Christ

Dolores "Dee" M. Christ, 96, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on August 16, 2024 at Stonehill Care Center.

Friends and family may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 20, 2024 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with a Wake Service beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 21, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in East Dubuque, Illinois, with Father Edilberto Jarapa. Burial will follow in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Dee was born on March 13, 1928 at the family home in Glen Haven, Wisconsin, daughter of Leo and Laura ( Casanova) Breuer. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Dubuque. She was united in marriage to Willis "Bill" Christ and together they celebrated 50 years together.

Dee was a hard worker. She worked at her parents' motel in East Dubuque and Spahn & Rose for their annual inventory. She was also a waitress for over 50 years at several local restaurants such as: Chateau, Leiser's, Moracco, and Timmerman's. She was always willing to work for her kids and their family-owned businesses, Brian's Supper Club, Viddy O's, and most recently, The Calico Bean Market, until she was nearly 88 years old!

Besides being the hardest working mom, Dee proudly raised her five children and deeply loved her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed being with friends, playing cards, dancing, and traveling. She was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Dubuque, Illinois, and served many years on the Altar and Rosary Society. She belonged to the Jaycee Janes, where her and Bill met many of their lifetime friends. She truly loved people, and her magnetic personality made them love her in return.

Dee is survived by her children Brian Christ of Dubuque, Rod (Donna) Christ, Steve (Marcia) Christ, Todd (Peggy) Christ, and Teri (Jim) Connely, all of East Dubuque, Illinois, ten grandchildren Tami (Scott) Glowicki, Tonia Steiner, Brian "Pete" (Michelle) Christ, Pam (Jim) Schwendinger, Andy (Marcia) Christ, Shawn (Michele) Christ, Chad (Heather) Christ, Adam (Tammy) Christ, Nicole (Mark Beatty) Christ, and Nile Connely, thirteen great grandchildren Amanda (Shane) McNamer, Emily Schwendinger, Isabel Steiner, Ethan Christ, Alex Christ, Kaitlyn Christ, Natalie Christ, Owen Christ, Andrew Christ, Sullivan Christ, Finnegan Christ, Ian Christ, and Elijah Christ, two great great grandchildren Audrey McNamer and Nolan McNamer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brother Robert Breuer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque in Dolores's name.
