Dorothy P. Cotant, 95, of Dubuque died Sunday, January 19, 2025, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Dubuque, with Rev. David Ambrosy presiding. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Chapel Mausoleum, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, of Dubuque, is assisting the family.
Dorothy was born on September 2, 1929, in Waucoma, daughter of William and Bertha (Drilling) Myers. Dorothy was united in marriage to James Cotant on September 21, 1950, at St. Raphael Cathedral in Dubuque.
Dorothy graduated from St. Mary’s School and Waucoma High School. She worked at Breakstone Butter Company for 15 years. In retirement, she spent quality time with her grandchildren biking on Heritage Trail and hosted many family birthday celebrations. Dorothy’s hobbies included sewing, gardening, reading, and puzzles. She also enjoyed several trips to Florida over the years.
Survivors include her three daughters: Doris (Mike) Kintzle of Dubuque, Barbara (Ronald) Then of Placid, and Judy (Bernie) Welter of Dubuque; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters: Magdalen Wieling of New Hampton, Dee Myers, BVM of Dubuque, and Elaine Hill of Peru, IL; brother-in-law Paul Kress of Dubuque; and sister-in-law Alice Myers of Cresco.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings: Esther Myers, Mary DeSloover, Betty Sieverding, Frances Kress, Marilyn Hoffmann, Leonard Myers, and Albert Myers; brothers-in-law: Bernard DeSloover, Tony Sieverding, Carl Hoffmann, and Ralph Wieling; and sister-in-law Marlene Myers.
