Obituary

Edward J. Lakatosh, 95, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on September 11th, 2023, at Harmony Dubuque Nursing Home.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 13th, 2023, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A Funeral Service will begin at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque Iowa with military honors accorded by the Iowa Army National Guard and American Legion Post #6.

Ed was born on October 2nd, 1927, in Slatington, Pennsylvania, son of Joseph and Cora (Valora) Lakatosh. Ed honorably served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict in the Army Air Force (Air Corps). He and his second wife, Joan, owned and operated Our Haus in Peosta, Iowa. He also worked as a truck driver for Rowley Interstate. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Ed is survived by his children Ed Jr. (Mary) Lakatosh of Walnutport, PA, and Jenmarie Lakatosh, stepchildren Mary Flynn, James (Kim) Saul, Steve (Paula) Saul, and Jeff (Stephanie) Saul, 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, brothers Dale Lakatosh Sr. and David Lakatosh Sr., sister-in-law Sally Boynton, companion Julie Breitsprecker, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Lillian, his second wife Joan, siblings Joe Lakatosh Jr., Robert Lakatosh, Dean Lakatosh Sr., and Denton Lakatosh.
