Francis Chapman Obituary

Francis D. Chapman, 80, of Luther Manor Nursing Home in Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on January 27, 2022 at 10:12 p.m. in Iowa City, IA.

Mr. Chapman was born on September 2, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, to the late Merlin and Valeria (Murphy) Chapman. He graduated High School from the Loras Academy, and then went on to serve his country for a 4 year term in the United States Air Force. After he completed his service term, he went to work at John Deere & Company and retired in 1996.

Mr. Chapman was married to Jane Chapman, who has preceded him in death in 2007.

He leaves behind his two daughters, Stephanie Welp (Joe) and Jennifer Fiedler (Tim). Also surviving are his two sisters Ceil Devlin and Helen Lemon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Chapman, his parents Merlin and Valeria (Murphy) Chapman, and his brother Leo Chapman.

Per Frank’s wishes, there will be no wake or funeral services. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
