George Donovan Obituary

George D. Donovan, 84, of Dubuque Iowa, passed away on Monday October 10, 2023 at Stonehill. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Fillmore, IA. at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

George was born May 31, 1939 to Hubert and Evelyn Donovan.

He graduated from Loras Academy and attended Loras College, before starting George D. Donovan Construction.

George was an avid golfer, pool player, and wine drinker. He was a member of the Asbury Eagle Club, spent his winters in Myrtle Beach S.C and loved his Sunday morning breakfast at the West Dubuque Tap.

A special thank you to the doctor’s, nurse’s, and staff at UnityPoint Dubuque and Stonehill, and also to Hospice of Dubuque for their excellent care of George.
