George P. Gamvroulas, 57, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Salt Late City, Utah, passed away on February 23, 2025 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Services will also be held at a later date in Salt Lake City, Utah followed by burial.
George was born on March 9, 1967, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Peter and Tula (Savas) Gamvroulas. He was united in marriage to Lainey Kemps on June 16, 2001, in Salt Lake City. George worked for 24 years as a correctional sergeant until his retirement. As a teen, he was a member of the Salt Lake Greek Orthodox dance group. George loved riding his motorcycle with friends, and socializing over a beer.
George is survived by his wife Lainey (Kemps) Gamvroulas, and his son Christopher.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Peter and Tula.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made in George's name to the You Are Not Alone Foundation to prevent veteran suicide.
