Gerald “Jerry” F. Straka, 67, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away on July 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born on August 19, 1957, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, the son of Francis E. and Rita (Swatek) Straka. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Badger. Jerry’s favorite place was the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, or looking for morels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Straka, brother-in-law Dan Atkinson, and nephew Kyle Straka.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, Dubuque Fire and EMS, Madison V.A., and all of the doctors and nurses that cared for Jerry throughout his journey.
